Europass

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Europass is an EU initiative to increase mobility of labor and education in Europe. It specifies a universal European curriculum vitae that should make a person's skills and qualifications clearly understood.

Europass was created in 2004 by the European Parliament to replace the European Curriculum Vitae, launched in 2002.

Europass helps the citizens to make their qualifications and competences clearly and easily understood throughout Europe. There are many sites about Europass but the first one is http://europass.cedefop.europa.eu/. This is the main site that helps all users to create with a simple wizard, a copy of a Curriculum in the European Format.

Many member countries have established a National Europass Centre to promote and provide information on the Europass documents.

Furthermore Europass is the name given to a coordinated portfolio of documents, which will in particular improve the communication between job applicants and employers, regardless of borders. This will facilitate occupational mobility – between countries as well as between sectors - and will promote and add value to mobility in education and training. Another free service is EuroCv which helps the users to keep a copy of the Curriculum Vitae in a free web space without ads and banners. EuroCv uses the Europass format as a standard. Such format is compatible with the systems already proposed by Europass, but it offers also the possibility of sharing the curriculum through the web by a simple link.
