Euroboy
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Euroboy is the stage name of Norwegian guitarist Knut Schreiner. It is also the title of a dance track by the British band the Pet Shop Boys.
[edit] Knut Schreiner
Schreiner (born December 18, 1974) plays lead guitar in Turbonegro (aka Stierkampf, Turboneger, TRBNGR), noted internationally for the album Apocalypse Dudes. As Euroboy, Schreiner usually appears on stage in an all black attire, sporting a Schutz-Staffel Totenkopf officer's hat. His style of playing is strongly influenced by James Williamson of the Stooges from 1971 to 1974. Schreiner has confessed that Raw Power (1973) by the Stooges is one of his all-time favorite records. He is also influenced by Ace Frehley of KISS and Angus Young of AC/DC. Schreiner is also the lead guitarist and lead singer of Euroboys, (formerly known as Kåre And The Cavemen).
Knut Schreiner has produced bands such as Turbonegro, Amulet and The Lovethugs. In 2002, he finished building his own studio with Anders Moller of Euroboys. This is called Crystal Canyon and is located in Oslo.
[edit] Pet Shop Boys song
"Euroboy", a dance track in the Eurodisco mold of such bands as Cappella and Livin' Joy, was originally a b-side on the 1994 Pet Shop Boys single "Yesterday, When I Was Mad". It later appeared on the US release of the album Disco 2, the b-side collection Alternative and the 2001 2-disc re-release of the album Very.
It was occasionally performed live on the Asian leg of the band's 1994 Discovery tour.
