The family Eupleridae is a group of Malagasy carnivores. Probably the best known is the fossa (Cryptoprocta ferox), in the sub-family Euplerinae. All the species in the subfamily Euplerinae were formerly classified as vivverids, while all the species in the subfamily Galidiinae were classified as herpestids, or mongooses.
