[edit] Russian or Ukranian roots? Or both? And in what language(s) should we spell his name?

I have observed some discussion/debate in the edit comments about the Ukranian or Russian nature of Slutsky's roots. I don't know the answer myself. With the recent edits by 62.221.47.223 to change the Russian language spelling to Ukranian, I think this ought to be hashed out on the talk page rather than in opposing edits on the main page. I made a major update to the article, relying substantially on Barnett's 2004 journal article.

There is a wealth of additional biographical and other information about EES in the Barnett article, simply awaiting a Wikipedian to do additional research and synopsis. N2e 23:10, 15 April 2006 (UTC)
