Eugene Records

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Eugene Records is an independent record label from Lexington, Kentucky that specializes in punk, hardcore and emo music.

[edit] History

Eugene initially started as a fanzine by Mark Borders of the Berea, Kentucky hardcore band Deep 13 in 1994. It was not until Mark met Nathan Waters of the Lexington, Ky band the Infected that the idea of starting a label began to form. The first release was Infected/Redhedded Stepchildren Split 7". Originally, only the bands that either Borders or Waters were members of were a part of the label. The later signing of acts such as the Baton Rouge, Louisiana-based Kenmores and the American Werewolves gave the fledgeling label more stability. Nearly 30 albums have been released by over 15 groups since the labels' inception, as well as some other merchandise. Most releases have been of Lexington and other central Kentucky-based bands.

As of November 2006, the label is still running.
