Eugene Hütz (real name Eugene Nikolaev) (Ukrainian: Yevhen Hudz', born Kiev, Ukraine; October 31st 1972) is a musician and actor. He moved from Ukraine to Vermont with his parents following the Chernobyl nuclear accident, living as a refugee from the age 14. Later, he moved to New York, where he now fronts and plays acoustic guitar for his gypsy-punk band Gogol Bordello, which was recognized by Peter Saraf, the producer of Everything Is Illuminated, which led to his role in the movie.

So far, his filmography includes Kill Your Darlings (2004), and Kill Your Idols. He also stars opposite Elijah Wood and Boris Leskin in Liev Schreiber's Everything Is Illuminated (2005), based on a critically acclaimed novel by Jonathan Safran Foer. Hütz also contributed to the soundtrack for Everything Is Illuminated along with his brother and several of his band members.

He has also performed as a DJ at Mehanata in New York City.

Eugene Hütz is also the subject of a documentary film, The Pied Piper of Hützovina, which follows the Gypsy Punkster as he travels across Ukraine and Ukraine in search of his musical roots and his spiritual guru, Sasha Kolpakov.
