[edit] I have a question

Why must we have subsubpages for the discussion of the overhaul? Can't we just have it all on this overhaul page? MESSEDROCKER 03:15, 15 November 2006 (UTC)

I concur, I feel the huge amount of subpages goes against the idea of having a large centralized discussion with lots of participants. In fact, I really think we should be having it at WT:ESP, since many more people have that on their watchlist. EWS23 (Leave me a message!) 17:23, 16 November 2006 (UTC)
I concur with the concur! It's a bit much to have all these pages, especially when only a handful of people are posting on them. A centalised disscussion, I feel, would be far better. Thε Halo Θ 17:26, 16 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] In regard to Userpage Award

Some has just recently asked me this:

Thanks for your constructive response to my comments on the Esperanza MfD page. I doubt Esperanza will be deleted, and I hope you can follow through on your plans for reform. I took a look at Esperanza earlier today, to see what might be in need of reforming, and what stood out in particular was the userpage award. While people are allowed to make their userpages as pretty as they want, it looks to me like the award encourages people to think of such prettifying is a good thing and a productive use of their time. It's much better to give awards for writing articles! Any thoughts?

And can't help but feel I wholeheartedly agree. The userpage award is one of those distractions from Wikipedia; it should go. DoomsDay349 03:43, 15 November 2006 (UTC)

However, the whole awardy thing is a good idea. We just need to apply it to article writing. MESSEDROCKER 11:47, 15 November 2006 (UTC)
Perhaps merge this and the Barnstar Brigade into an Esperanza Barnstar Program (or something akin to that), which will present users with the Esperanza Barnstar on the criteria of A) Exceptional Article Writing B) Outstanding Civility or C) An outstanding userpage. Note that we will not actively search out users like we do with Barnstar Brigade, as I think we obsess with that, but instead just recognize your peers and only give it to them under certain critera (may want to draw up criteria for it). Wow, that wasn't a bad idea =P. I'm gonna bring this up on their overhaul pages... DoomsDay349 22:05, 16 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] The Halo's restructuring idea

For anyone who is interested, I've placed a kind of idea for a restructure at the MfD talk page. It's just a starting point right now. Thε Halo Θ 12:07, 15 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] An inspirational thought...or is it a warning?

Here's a brief statement I made at the MFD, just to let you know how hard this will be (well, how hard I think it will be).

I don't think we've fathomed how hard this is going to be. From this moment on, Esperanza is faced with twenty times more obstacles than ever, assuming we survive this MFD. No longer can we be lax; no longer can we sleep. Attack will come from every side, adversity from all corners. We will have to completely and utterly change Esperanza...sometimes that is my greatest fear. That in changing ourselves, we may destroy ourselves. But without the change we are guaranteed destruction; with it, there is a light of hope. I don't know what these changes are, but know this; we'll need them, and we'll need them bad.

It seems radical, it seems paranoid, but I believe it through and through. DoomsDay349 23:54, 15 November 2006 (UTC)

Here's how you can get started: transwiki the coffee lounge, transwiki the games, and get rid of the pointless bureaucracy. Refactor Esperanza so that it focuses entirely on making the community happy, healthy, and wanting to write articles. Replace "Barnstar Brigade" with "Recognizing Positive Contributions" and perhaps award barnstars after that. Keep Stress Alerts. "Admin Coaching" is a misleading name; consider changing it to Editor Advice or something along those lines. "To Do list" is awesome. Kill the Userpage Awards. Reach Out is nice though maybe it can be merged with another page. Stressbusters and the Calendar are the two things I'm having trouble deciding whether to keep it or transwiki it. MESSEDROCKER 00:30, 16 November 2006 (UTC)
Damn! Nice outline. We should bring these up on the main Esperanza page; I'll definitely consider them. Thanks! DoomsDay349 00:34, 16 November 2006 (UTC)
I like the preposals. It would be nice to post them on the Esperanza talk page, to see what a wider audience thinks of them. Thε Halo Θ 17:42, 16 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Discuss

I am not an Esperanzan, so only request that you create discussions on the utility of the following:

Dev920 (Have a nice day!) 18:17, 18 November 2006 (UTC)

Relevant discussions have now been opened. Misza13 18:52, 18 November 2006 (UTC)
Thankyou. Would also suggest opening discussion on membership list, per discussion here: Wikipedia talk:Esperanza#An idea on the membership list. Dev920 (Have a nice day!) 18:53, 18 November 2006 (UTC)
For the moment, I've put a subsection devoted to this discussion at Wikipedia:Esperanza/Overhaul/Outreach. EWS23 (Leave me a message!) 23:37, 18 November 2006 (UTC)

Discussions regarding everything I previously mentioned have been added with one exception: the Esperanzan barnstar. Could someone please create a discussion regarding this? Dev920 (Have a nice day!) 23:42, 18 November 2006 (UTC)

Additionally, have just discovered this semi-inactive page. Wikipedia:Esperanza/Stressbusters. Woud recommend deletion and merge to Wikipedia:WikiProject Wikidemia, which has more users and is more inclusive. Would someone create a discussion for this? (At this rate, I will have to join Esperanza myself!) Dev920 (Have a nice day!) 02:11, 19 November 2006 (UTC)
Just two notes: 1. you can create these discussion pages yourself and don't have to be an Esperanzian to do that, 2. the Stressbusters program has nothing to do with the WikiProject you mentioned. Perhaps you had another one in mind? Misza13 11:33, 19 November 2006 (UTC)
I am aware I technically am capable of creating and initiating these discussions myself, but I think actual actions, such as initiation or voting, should be taken by Esperanzans themselves. While I do not mind airing my views, I don't want to force decisions on you all. Regarding sressbusters, it is largely a research project in a similar vein of what goes on an Wikdemia, and I think it would be more productive if it moved there.Dev920 (Have a nice day!) 11:50, 19 November 2006 (UTC)
