[edit] Issues
- Inactive???
- Redundant to WP:ECOTM
[edit] Discussion
My only concern is that this program has been quite inactive for a while. But I don't think this is a priority to be dealt with during the massive overhaul.--Ed ¿Cómo estás? 02:25, 18 November 2006 (UTC)
- Mmm...if you ask me, is now redundant to ECOTM. I say we just delete it now for the sake of house-cleaning. DoomsDay349 04:08, 18 November 2006 (UTC)
- I think we should delete as well.--Ed ¿Cómo estás? 04:12, 18 November 2006 (UTC)
- I would not say that is really redundant to ECOTM, but there definitly an overlap. I would not be opposed to the deletion. Request for help can also go on the main talk page. – Heaven's Wrath Talk 05:36, 18 November 2006 (UTC)
- So...should we speedy? DoomsDay349 05:41, 18 November 2006 (UTC)
- No. Wait for more input by other Esperanzians.--Ed ¿Cómo estás? 05:45, 18 November 2006 (UTC)

My two cents: if the proposed noticeboard (at the coffee lounge discussion) is created, this list should be deleted and a "Article help wanted" section established. Dev920 (Have a nice day!) 02:55, 19 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Resolution
[edit] Keep
- Strong keep. ECOTM is entirely different from the To-Do list. Initially, though, the list was used to request for help in improving articles, but that can now be diverted to ECOTM. This page should be our core page, because its aim is to help people in need - which is also the main aim of Esperanza. Granted, it needs a name change, and more publicity, so that we can direct much of the "Help me" talk on WT:ESP here. --May the Force be with you! Shreshth91 06:27, 18 November 2006 (UTC)
- Keep, the To-Do list has a much broader range than the ECOTM. With the ECOTM, we are working on improving one article a month. With the To-Do list, someone can ask for help referencing a page, dealing with disambiguation, archiving their talk page, or pretty much anything else. I think it's helpful to have, and allows anyone to request help for anything, rather than for one article. -- Natalya 14:08, 18 November 2006 (UTC)
- Comment That's understandable, but isn't it redundant to the Help Desk and the {{helpme}} template? DoomsDay349 16:22, 18 November 2006 (UTC)
- Well then, so are so is the ECOTM, to WP:ACID. The idea of ECOTM is to get more collaboration on articles, not to take over all collaboration. Similarly the to-do list will be used to help users, and we don't claim that we have monopoly over doing that. --May the Force be with you! Shreshth91 18:27, 18 November 2006 (UTC)
- Not so sure the same principle applies. Whereas we can always benefit from more COTM/Ws, having a secondary help desk is rather useless, as requests on the help desk are usually responded to in minutes, and there is no real need for a slower, less viewed help desk. - Keep Its pretty useful, but it may have an overlap with ECOTM. Maybe change it slightly to set it apart and to make it more appropriate and appealing? - • The Giant Puffin • 14:50, 18 November 2006 (UTC)
- Strong keep. There is no overlap. This is to do with small little jobs that we want to get done, but don't have the time or will. It's about us all working together to help eachother, when we need it. Yes, it's inactive, but that's no reason to kill it. Regards, —Celestianpower háblame 13:21, 19 November 2006 (UTC)
- OK, good points, but what about redundancy with the help desk and {{helpme}}? I think it's practically a less known, less effective way of doing the same thing other people already do. (and please read this essay, in regards to "Strong" Keep.) DoomsDay349 17:56, 19 November 2006 (UTC)
- I don't agree that the help desk and {{helpme}} do the same thing. This is a far more informal and friendly place to post requests than the formal and impersonal spaces mentioned above. Sure, it's not working so well at the moment, but need improvement, not deletion. Regards, —Celestianpower háblame 21:23, 19 November 2006 (UTC)
- Oh, and I've read your essay and disagree. I find it very useful to see the opinion-in-a-snapshot at the start, when browsing a discussion. Thanks! —Celestianpower háblame 21:28, 19 November 2006 (UTC)
