Notes from the council:

  • Daniel is Banes
  • Eric is EWS23

EWS23 was not at the meeting, but previously recorded his comments about the topics to be discussed. These comments were quoted throughout the meeting.

[3:06:00 PM] Natalya says: Since Eric is not here, I'll just post his comments in as the topics come up

[3:06:12 PM] FireFox says: /waits

[3:06:15 PM] Natalya says: CP: Yeah.... I often forget

[3:06:26 PM] Natalya says: First thing to go through are the proposed programs

[3:06:31 PM] Natalya says: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WP:ESP/PROP

[3:06:55 PM] Natalya says: We'll deal with proposed ones first

[3:07:11 PM] Natalya says: Starting with the Caption Contest - does CP's suggestion seem appropriatE?

[3:07:38 PM] * Celestianpower thinks so

[3:07:40 PM] Celestianpower says: :P

[3:07:42 PM] Natalya says: :)

[3:08:08 PM] Natalya says: I would agree, but want to make sure everyone else does too

[3:08:11 PM] FireFox says: yes

[3:08:40 PM] Daniel says: aye

[3:08:41 PM] Natalya says: Quoting Eric: " I always enjoy things like this, but it probably shouldn't be on the main Esperanza page, and I'm not entirely sure it fits into appreciation week either. I think this would be a good idea for the Coffee Lounge, either in the main section or in the games area. It probably doesn't have to be a program of any sort, but if people have the initiative to post a new image to be captioned in the coffee lounge each week, I'm sure people could have fun with it. I'd say archive as a program but suggest that people can do so in the coffee lounge in some form or fashion."

[3:08:49 PM] Natalya says: The short version: he agress

[3:08:52 PM] Tito says: sounds all right... but not entirely sure about its usefulness

[3:08:54 PM] Natalya says: *agrees

[3:09:09 PM] Natalya says: It seems like a good games thing for the Coffee Lounge

[3:09:17 PM] Natalya says: If people there wanted to do it

[3:09:53 PM] Celestianpower says: Yes

[3:09:56 PM] Natalya says: Shall we make such a suggestiont to the coffee lounge, but archive it otherwise?

[3:10:04 PM] Tito says: yeah

[3:10:05 PM] Celestianpower says: Aye

[3:10:05 PM] Daniel says: aye

[3:10:09 PM] FireFox says: ditto

[3:10:11 PM] Natalya says: Sounds good

[3:10:16 PM] Natalya says: Next: Interwiki User Welcome

[3:10:24 PM] Natalya says: We held off on this one last time because Tito, you weren't here

[3:10:30 PM] Natalya says: Do you have anything to expand about it?

[3:10:37 PM] Tito says: pretty much not... :(

[3:10:48 PM] Tito says: it was suggested a while ago...

[3:10:57 PM] Tito says: I just do it on IRC nowadays, when I can

[3:11:11 PM] Natalya says: Did you have any ideas on how it could work? Do you think it would even be useful now, from what you've seen?

[3:11:20 PM] Tito says: just tell them which policies may be different here, instead of the en.wp, or similar

[3:11:24 PM] Natalya says: (Anyone can/should answer, for that matter)

[3:11:54 PM] Tito says: well... it is useful... but because sometimes the users take our policies back to their home wikis

[3:11:55 PM] Celestianpower says: I don't think it's suited to a separate program

[3:12:05 PM] Tito says: there's not enough people to do it, though

[3:12:11 PM] Celestianpower says: Perhaps a line on "Good things for Esperanzians to do"

[3:12:26 PM] Natalya says: Rune Welsh had a good idea about making a somewhat different welcome template

[3:12:33 PM] Natalya says: Perhaps we could create that, and link to it from that page, CP?

[3:13:38 PM] Natalya says: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Esperanza/Programs#General_Esperanzial_Actio ns , for anyone not familiar with it

[3:13:54 PM] Celestianpower says: Yes, that'd be good

[3:14:37 PM] Natalya says: Does anyone want to take the initiative to create the template? Just discussing some different policies on it and such.

[3:14:54 PM] Natalya says: Tito: Are you familiar with what usually helps interwiki- users? Would you be able to do it?

[3:15:03 PM] Tito says: it's really hard to tell

[3:15:11 PM] Tito says: depends on where they're coming from

[3:15:40 PM] Tito says: and lately I've been insanely busy, I don't know how much time I'll be able to put into making the template

[3:15:48 PM] Natalya says: Not a problem :)

[3:16:09 PM] Natalya says: I can do some research to see which policies would be most useful, and put something together

[3:16:17 PM] Celestianpower says: Cool :)

[3:16:23 PM] Natalya says: And if anyone has any suggestions on good ones, please let me know so I'll include them

[3:16:49 PM] * Daniel has nonne

[3:16:50 PM] Natalya says: Next program; Kindness Campaign; just a quick check to see if we've had any new ideas of how the two groups can coordinator (if so, awesome; if not, we'll move on)

[3:16:55 PM] Celestianpower says: Fair use, obviously

[3:17:07 PM] Celestianpower says: Natalya: I agree with Eric on this one

[3:17:30 PM] Tito says: last time I checked, we approved it, but it stagnated on that side

[3:17:46 PM] Natalya says: To quote Eric: "Still not sure a good idea exists for this yet. Obviously we all said an all-out merger would be bad, but a program in which these two organizations cooperated could come along. I think this one is safe to be archived for now, and it can be looked at again if somebody comes up with something."

[3:17:59 PM] Celestianpower says: Yes

[3:18:01 PM] Celestianpower says: Exactly

[3:18:03 PM] Natalya says: We've all agreed that it's a good idea in principle, but not how to do it

[3:18:13 PM] Celestianpower says: Right

[3:18:21 PM] Natalya says: Does anyone object to archiving it for now, but still leaving the idea open?

[3:18:50 PM] * Daniel has no objections

[3:18:53 PM] Tito says: well... archiving it has the sound of a "rejected" idea...

[3:19:16 PM] Celestianpower says: Hmm

[3:19:25 PM] Natalya says: We could add a note to it, or we could leave it proposed (nothing really wrong with leaving it there)

[3:19:30 PM] Daniel says: well KC and EA are linking to each other from their respective project pages

[3:19:43 PM] Daniel says: so there is somethign there :)

[3:19:53 PM] Natalya says: And we link to KC in the "how to be generally Esperanzian" section

[3:19:57 PM] Daniel says: bit of joint advertising alread

[3:19:58 PM] Daniel says: y

[3:20:02 PM] Daniel says: yes that's a good idea.

[3:20:08 PM] Natalya says: (We already to)

[3:20:10 PM] Natalya says: *do

[3:20:17 PM] Daniel says: oh (blush)

[3:20:25 PM] Daniel says: thanks for catching me out there Natalya

[3:20:29 PM] Natalya says: Do we think that if we leave it on the proposed page, someone might come up with a fabulous way to do it?

[3:20:32 PM] Natalya says: Hahahaha ;)

[3:20:41 PM] * Daniel is dubious

[3:21:21 PM] Natalya says: Anyone? Anyone?

[3:21:33 PM] * Natalya gives the council some coffee in an effort to wake them up ;)

[3:21:34 PM] Celestianpower says: There's always the possibility

[3:21:35 PM] Tito says: it might

[3:21:55 PM] Daniel says: meh, I'm guess so

[3:21:55 PM] Natalya says: How about we leave it there until the next meeting, and if there's still been no more ideas, we can archive it

[3:22:02 PM] Daniel says: good call

[3:22:03 PM] FireFox says: ok

[3:22:19 PM] Tito says: pie

[3:22:20 PM] Tito says: er

[3:22:20 PM] Tito says: aye

[3:22:30 PM] Natalya says: Mmmmm pie

[3:22:31 PM] Daniel says: same thing really

[3:22:39 PM] Natalya says: Okay, next program: Editor of the Week

[3:22:47 PM] Natalya says: To quote Eric: "I'm always leery of things like this, simply because individual recognition of this organized nature could get sticky. I know as Esperanzans we often think that we're above things like jealousy and pride and getting mad at others because we didn't get some award, but the fact is that we're still human, and if you don't get "Editor of the Week" even once over the course of a year, you might wonder, "What am I doing wrong? Why aren't people noticing me?" Often users who do the best work are the ones who are often ignored. The Barnstar Brigade does a good job of addressing this, but I'm afraid something more organized like this could breed more ill- will than positive reinforcement. Just my two cents, though."

[3:22:50 PM] Daniel says: politely: (n)

[3:23:03 PM] Daniel says: I'm with Eric

[3:23:04 PM] Celestianpower says: What Daniel said

[3:23:11 PM] Natalya says: I have to agree too

[3:23:31 PM] Daniel says: well

[3:23:36 PM] Natalya says: It seems like barnstars are a good way to recognize good editing, but even then, people can still be upset when they don't get any

[3:23:43 PM] Celestianpower says: Yes

[3:23:50 PM] Tito says: ESP is too big for it to work

[3:23:51 PM] Daniel says: I don't think it'll breed open ill will, but it could cause hidden resentment, which is as bad

[3:23:51 PM] Natalya says: This could turn too much into a popularity contest, it seems like

[3:23:58 PM] Natalya says: Daniel: Yes

[3:24:01 PM] Tito says: something for WP:TROP, not a 500+ member organization

[3:24:11 PM] Natalya says: Tito: Yes!

[3:24:16 PM] Daniel says: too many awesome editors to count really

[3:24:16 PM] Natalya says: I think it works very well for them

[3:24:20 PM] Natalya says: But not for us

[3:24:31 PM] * Tito wonders why Natalya said "them" :(

[3:24:32 PM] Celestianpower says: And in an even more regulated system, the pitfalls would be more apparent

[3:24:33 PM] Tito says: :P

[3:24:46 PM] Natalya says: Ah! Sorry, Tito!

[3:24:49 PM] * Daniel waves to the membership who'll be spammed the newletter and tells them he's talking about them when he says there are too many deserving folks out there.

[3:24:55 PM] * Celestianpower has to go in a minute or so

[3:24:59 PM] * Natalya forgot :)

[3:25:07 PM] Natalya says: CP: For good?

[3:25:10 PM] Celestianpower says: Yes

[3:25:12 PM] Daniel says: CP: :(

[3:25:14 PM] Celestianpower says: I'm jumping off a cliff

[3:25:17 PM] Tito says: :(

[3:25:20 PM] Natalya says: I certainly hope not!

[3:25:31 PM] Natalya says: CP: Is there anything you really wanted to cover before you leave?

[3:25:58 PM] Celestianpower says: Appreciation week

[3:26:19 PM] Natalya says: Okay - Appreciation Week!

[3:26:26 PM] Celestianpower says: Do we think that it's ready for a page of its own, now we have a date?

[3:26:48 PM] Natalya says: It's starting to get some ideas; do you like how the brainstorming is going now, or do you want a subpage for development (like you mentioned, a believe)

[3:26:58 PM] Natalya says: Heh - a subpage seems appropriate, at least to me

[3:27:44 PM] Natalya says: If that seems to be the consensus, do you want to make it and link to it from the current section?

[3:29:09 PM] Daniel says: ...

[3:29:55 PM] Natalya says: I guess we'll go with that, then

[3:30:02 PM] Celestianpower says: Yes

[3:30:04 PM] * Celestianpower is eating now

[3:30:11 PM] Celestianpower says: Bye!

[3:30:13 PM] Celestianpower says: Hope I'm back

[3:30:16 PM] Daniel says: bye!

[3:30:25 PM] FireFox says: bye bye

[3:30:31 PM] Natalya says: Have fun, CP

[3:30:42 PM] Natalya says: Next proposed program, then

[3:30:48 PM] Tito says: bye

[3:31:40 PM] Natalya says: Nice to be appreciate day seems to have already been addressed, so archived it seems it should go

[3:32:11 PM] Tito says: that's the same thing as Editor of the Week, right?

[3:32:19 PM] Tito says: meaning, same issues

[3:32:28 PM] Natalya says: No; more like appreciation week that is in development

[3:32:48 PM] Tito says: well, then file it under that folder :)

[3:32:56 PM] Natalya says: Sounds good

[3:33:00 PM] Natalya says: Next: Moral support program

[3:33:18 PM] * Daniel KIND OF LIKES THAT ONE

[3:33:24 PM] Daniel says: sorry 'bout the caps

[3:33:30 PM] Natalya says: It adds for emphasis :)

[3:33:39 PM] Natalya says: It is a very interesting idea

[3:34:18 PM] Daniel says: lol

[3:34:47 PM] Natalya says: That was Eric's first line, too

[3:35:02 PM] Natalya says: Quoting Eric: "This is an interesting idea. It kind of goes hand-in-hand with stress alerts, stressbusters, and barnstar brigade. We all know RfAs can be stressful, and that otherwise good contributors can often leave after RfAs that came a little too soon. I'm curious to know what everyone else thinks about this, but I have no problems with moving this to "In Development" or "Approved" if other people agree that it's a good idea. The one thing I do want to stress, though, is that this should be a POST-RfA project. Esperanza already gets enough accusations of vote stacking, the last thing we need is people to start supporting RfAs for all the wrong reasons in Esperanza's name, such as "Support- we don't want this person to leave.""

[3:35:17 PM] Natalya says: I think it has some promise, and addresses an area that often leads to stress and people leaving Wikipedia

[3:35:44 PM] Natalya says: (that last comment was mine)

[3:35:48 PM] Daniel says: Yes, Eric put's it well

[3:36:02 PM] * Daniel agrees with both of you

[3:36:03 PM] Natalya says: Should we put it into development, with those points mentioned?

[3:36:10 PM] Daniel says: aye

[3:36:16 PM] Tito says: hmm

[3:36:18 PM] Tito says: not really sure

[3:36:25 PM] Natalya says: What are you thinking, Tito?

[3:36:33 PM] Tito says: that it can be seen as too condescending

[3:36:46 PM] Tito says: "Oh, you failed RfA, so here we go to make you feel happy"

[3:37:31 PM] Tito says: it's the kind of thing that if taken too far, will be counterproductive

[3:38:59 PM] * Tito wonders where everyone went

[3:39:08 PM] Natalya says: Sorry!

[3:39:27 PM] Natalya says: I don't think it's meant to be condescending

[3:39:49 PM] Natalya says: But more "Don't get stressed out that you failed your RfA, it doesn't mean you're still not a valid contributor"

[3:39:58 PM] Natalya says: That's how I was seeing it, at least

[3:40:41 PM] Tito says: well, if that is clarified, then it is fine

[3:40:41 PM] Daniel says: hmm

[3:40:46 PM] Daniel says: yes

[3:40:55 PM] Natalya says: If we're not positive, we could always add a comment (while it's still in proposal state) with some of the thoughts and worries, and see what people think

[3:40:56 PM] Tito says: but I read something about modifying RfA totals?

[3:41:07 PM] Tito says: that's a no-no

[3:41:29 PM] Natalya says: Eh? Modifying RFA totals?

[3:42:04 PM] Tito says: read something like that on WT:RFA

[3:42:17 PM] Daniel says: ouch

[3:42:37 PM] * Natalya is confused

[3:42:48 PM] * Celestianpower is back briefly

[3:42:56 PM] Natalya says: Hi again, CP

[3:43:29 PM] Tito says: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WT:RFA#Moral_support_for_failed_RFA_candidates

[3:44:24 PM] * Natalya is still confused

[3:45:15 PM] Tito says: Natalya: some arguments by the rest of the community...

[3:46:50 PM] Natalya says: I must be missing something - how does it involve modifying the RfA pages?

[3:47:11 PM] Natalya says: But maybe that doesn't even matter; it seems like there are some issues with it right now

[3:47:39 PM] Natalya says: We can add the worries that got brought up, as well as link to that discussion, and leave it proposed to see if it is shaped in a less-problematic fashion, perhaps?

[3:47:46 PM] Celestianpower says: Yes

[3:47:50 PM] Celestianpower says: Moving on

[3:47:59 PM] Celestianpower says: (though people are falling like flies here)

[3:48:26 PM] * Celestianpower remembers that he's not the AG and backs down

[3:49:02 PM] Natalya says: Haha... sorry, the tempo seems to have slowed down

[3:49:08 PM] * Natalya gets energized

[3:49:09 PM] Celestianpower says: lol

[3:49:16 PM] * Celestianpower passes Lucozade round

[3:49:31 PM] Natalya says: Next: Strive

[3:49:39 PM] Celestianpower says: I don't like this

[3:49:45 PM] Celestianpower says: Redundant

[3:49:55 PM] Celestianpower says: Not a clearly defined focus

[3:50:05 PM] Natalya says: Yes; it's a nice thing to do, but it doesn't seem to necessarily be an Esperanza program

[3:50:06 PM] Daniel says: isn't it just another award?

[3:50:10 PM] Celestianpower says: That too

[3:50:22 PM] Daniel says: i like personalized awards, they are always refreshing

[3:50:26 PM] Natalya says: Quoting Eric: "I'm not entirely sure what this is about. It seems like a good idea, but I don't think it's really a program proposal. I think it's kind of more of an award/reminder type thing. If we want we can throw it into the images page, but I can't see any kind of full-fledged program coming out of this. Feel free to archive or get further clarification from the initial poster."

[3:50:54 PM] Daniel says: so I'm with Eric, doesn't need a program, but i think it'd make a nice award on it's own though

[3:51:15 PM] Natalya says: Should we suggest to the creator to make it a personal award, and archive it?

[3:51:34 PM] Daniel says: ayr

[3:51:36 PM] Daniel says: *aye

[3:51:37 PM] * FireFox nods

[3:51:46 PM] Celestianpower says: Aye

[3:51:53 PM] Tito says: pie

[3:51:57 PM] Tito says: aye

[3:52:04 PM] Natalya says: Okay: Happy Birthday v. 2: We probably need to wait and here back from the birthday committe on this until we make any decisions; hold off, then?

[3:52:12 PM] Celestianpower says: Yes

[3:52:38 PM] Celestianpower says: Though I'd like to note that I like the new format to the calendar

[3:52:40 PM] FireFox says: mmmmm

[3:53:23 PM] Daniel says: me too

[3:53:25 PM] Natalya says: Is that a good "mmmm"?

[3:53:27 PM] Natalya says: Yes, me too!

[3:53:34 PM] FireFox says: yes it is

[3:53:34 PM] * Tito made the old calendar, so he will not comment ;)

[3:53:53 PM] * Natalya thought the old calendar was lovely too, but that the new one allows it to fit on the new page

[3:54:02 PM] Natalya says: But moving on: Holiday Committee: thoughts?

[3:54:12 PM] Natalya says: Quoting Eric: "This is potentially interesting, though I'm not sure about it. The two proposals at the moment seem to be 1. Talk page spamming, something that people think we already do too much of, and 2. Redecoration of WP:ESP, which is fine, but that page is relatively low-traffic (people use the subpages much more than the actual front page). I'm curious to see what you guys think, but I don't think it's ready for program status. Also, a point has already been raised, which holidays do we celebrate? Christmas, Hannukah, nothing with a religious affiliation? There has always been an unofficial "separation of religion and wiki" as far as I'm concerned. I dunno, I guess it's up to you guys to see where the conversation goes on this one, whether it's archived or left as is."

[3:54:22 PM] FireFox says: i like both calendars

[3:54:35 PM] Celestianpower says: Yes, what FF said

[3:54:46 PM] * Natalya points to the holiday committee :)

[3:55:37 PM] Natalya says: Anyone?

[3:55:49 PM] * Natalya points out that the faster eveyrone can respond, the faster the meeting will finish :)

[3:55:54 PM] Tito says: well... don't know

[3:56:04 PM] Tito says: again, spamming could work

[3:56:12 PM] Tito says: but it's something to be discouraged

[3:56:27 PM] Celestianpower says: Isn't it redundant of the calendar?

[3:56:31 PM] Natalya says: I feel like people spam their friends enough on holidays as it is

[3:56:37 PM] Daniel says: yes exactly

[3:56:37 PM] Natalya says: And that as long as we

[3:56:41 PM] Tito says: yes

[3:56:47 PM] Natalya says: *we're aware of Esperanza's birthday, it's not really necessary

[3:56:48 PM] Daniel says: i mean christmas has loads of spamming going on already

[3:56:50 PM] Natalya says: CP: Yes

[3:56:51 PM] Tito says: so it may be unnecessary

[3:56:59 PM] Celestianpower says: Yes

[3:56:59 PM] Natalya says: Archive, then

[3:57:03 PM] Celestianpower says: I say archive

[3:57:05 PM] Celestianpower says: Aye

[3:57:06 PM] Tito says: archive

[3:57:19 PM] Natalya says: Onto the in development section: We already discussed appriation week

[3:57:27 PM] Celestianpower says: Yes

[3:57:32 PM] Natalya says: Not much to say about the other too, but any ideas on how to get more interest in them?

[3:57:44 PM] Celestianpower says: *two

[3:58:07 PM] Natalya says: I'm glad you're here to correct my grammar and spelling mistakes, CP :)

[3:58:13 PM] Celestianpower says: hehe

[3:58:53 PM] Natalya says: If there isn't much interest in them at the moment, there's not much we can do about it; and we have been publicizing it in the newsletter and such

[3:59:08 PM] Daniel says: aye

[3:59:09 PM] Celestianpower says: Hmm

[3:59:09 PM] Natalya says: It may just need time for people to get interested (as passive as that sounds)

[3:59:16 PM] Celestianpower says: Yes

[3:59:21 PM] Celestianpower says: We can't really do any more

[3:59:29 PM] * Natalya thinks that being active is better than being passive, but sometimes passive is what happens

[3:59:31 PM] Natalya says: Okay

[3:59:41 PM] Natalya says: Next; September Elections!

[3:59:46 PM] Celestianpower says: :)

[3:59:48 PM] FireFox says: ooh 'citing

[3:59:59 PM] Natalya says: CP, Tito: are you planning on running again (out of curiosity?)

[4:00:06 PM] Celestianpower says: Yes

[4:00:11 PM] Natalya says: We;d certainly love to hav eyou both still

[4:00:15 PM] Tito says: still not 100% sure

[4:00:27 PM] Natalya says: That's cool too, Tito

[4:00:33 PM] Natalya says: Definitly think about it

[4:00:33 PM] Celestianpower says: Natalya: I'm not even going to bother with that sentence :P

[4:00:40 PM] Celestianpower says: *Definitely

[4:01:04 PM] Natalya says: CP: I was going to make a comment about how terrible it was - I don't think I can type today!

[4:01:12 PM] Natalya says: As for the scheduling of elections

[4:01:33 PM] Natalya says: Eric suggested Nominations, Sept. 18 - 24, Voting, Sept. 25 – 30

[4:01:43 PM] Celestianpower says: Yes

[4:01:45 PM] Celestianpower says: Sounds good

[4:01:46 PM] Natalya says: Any objections?

[4:01:52 PM] Natalya says: It seems appropriate, not too long or too short

[4:01:51 PM] Celestianpower says: Does that incorporate a weekend?

[4:02:00 PM] Natalya says: Yes; the weekend is in the nominations

[4:02:05 PM] Natalya says: And the 30th is a Saturday

[4:02:13 PM] Celestianpower says: Right, ok

[4:02:25 PM] Natalya says: I'll get the nominations page up tonight or tommorow morning

[4:02:28 PM] Natalya says: So it can get started

[4:02:28 PM] Celestianpower says: Cool

[4:02:37 PM] Celestianpower says: SOunds good

[4:02:39 PM] Tito says: it has to be today, Natalya

[4:02:39 PM] Natalya says: Any issues for the elections running that anyone wants to bring up?

[4:02:58 PM] FireFox says: is it going to be put in a newsletter?

[4:03:00 PM] Daniel says: none from me

[4:03:01 PM] Tito says: tomorrow is the 18th... so it should be ready before

[4:03:01 PM] Natalya says: Tito: Okay, that does make sense, if they're going to start tommorow

[4:03:10 PM] Natalya says: Yep, definitly going in the newsletter

[4:03:16 PM] FireFox says: ok

[4:03:23 PM] Celestianpower says: Newsletter is going out tonight, yes?

[4:03:33 PM] * Natalya will have to write it up first :)

[4:03:36 PM] Natalya says: But hopefully, yes

[4:03:44 PM] * Natalya will have a late night tonight

[4:03:44 PM] Celestianpower says: :)

[4:04:06 PM] Natalya says: Next: Front Page Redesign

[4:04:10 PM] Natalya says: Applause all around!

[4:04:12 PM] Tito says: seems done...

[4:04:13 PM] Tito says: :D

[4:04:14 PM] Celestianpower says: I like it

[4:04:18 PM] Natalya says: (party)

[4:04:29 PM] Daniel says: w00t!

[4:04:31 PM] Daniel says: (clap)

[4:04:34 PM] Natalya says: There might be a couple minor issues, but all is good

[4:04:43 PM] Natalya says: I knew there was an applauding smily somewhere :)

[4:04:55 PM] Natalya says: Next: Welcoming new members (we're almost finished!)

[4:04:56 PM] FireFox says: lol

[4:05:31 PM] Natalya says: TangoTango wrote up a script for a bot that lists all the new members of Esperanza over a period of time

[4:05:36 PM] Natalya says: the results can be found at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Tangotango/New_members_of_Esperanza

[4:05:55 PM] Natalya says: The believe the bot runs every 3 or 4 days, so the new members in that timespan are listed at the page

[4:06:14 PM] Natalya says: This will help those welcoming new members to easily identify the new members, rather than going through this history

[4:06:32 PM] Celestianpower says: Sounds good

[4:06:44 PM] Natalya says: We can add a link to the welcomers section of the members page, and it would probably help to drop a message about it to everyone who has signed up to be a welcomer

[4:06:43 PM] Celestianpower says: So long as it doesn't actually welcome them, I'm all in favour

[4:06:51 PM] Natalya says: CP: Nope, it just lists them :)

[4:07:07 PM] Celestianpower says: ;)

[4:07:22 PM] Natalya says: Unless somone wants to, I

[4:07:30 PM] Natalya says: *I'll take care of putting the info up

[4:07:37 PM] Daniel says: :)

[4:08:07 PM] Natalya says: Okay, we're just about done!

[4:08:16 PM] Daniel says: yay!

[4:08:17 PM] Natalya says: Any new business to be brought up, before we decide what's going in the newsletter?

[4:08:35 PM] * Daniel hasn't any

[4:09:23 PM] Celestianpower says: Nope

[4:09:25 PM] Natalya says: Nothing else then, I assume

[4:09:29 PM] FireFox says: nope

[4:09:31 PM] Natalya says: Newsletter, ho!

[4:09:39 PM] Natalya says: Any preferences for the featured program?

[4:10:01 PM] * Daniel likes...

[4:10:39 PM] Daniel says: if we have none, Barnstar Brigade hasn't been that active lately, my fault partly, i haven't been there at all, but it could do with another wave of energy and some new membership

[4:10:53 PM] Natalya says: That's a good point (also partly my fault)

[4:11:00 PM] Natalya says: Any other suggestions, or shall we go with that?

[4:11:22 PM] * Daniel doesn't see himself doing anything big on wp until november, busy time of year.

[4:11:34 PM] Natalya says: Yes, it is certainly busy now

[4:11:35 PM] * Tito is half-gone until December

[4:11:46 PM] Natalya says: By the lack of response, I take it the Barnstar Brigade is fine

)

[4:11:46 PM] Daniel says: To blow my own trumpet i guess, i think BB is a really cool idea :P

[4:11:56 PM] Tito says: sure, go with it

[4:11:57 PM] Daniel says: so it'd be nice to see that up an going nicely again

[4:12:03 PM] Natalya says: As for the " what's new" section

[4:12:08 PM] Natalya says: We should certainly mention elections

[4:12:10 PM] Celestianpower says: Yes

[4:12:15 PM] Daniel says: yes indeed

[4:12:16 PM] Celestianpower says: And Appreciation week

[4:12:32 PM] Celestianpower says: And the front page redesign

[4:12:36 PM] Natalya says: That's a good idea; will you have a page for it?

[4:12:46 PM] Natalya says: Yep - definitly a bit about that it's been finished!

[4:13:02 PM] Daniel says: :)

[4:13:30 PM] Natalya says: That should pretty much cover the newsletter (we'll have the log and everything)

[4:13:40 PM] Daniel says: jolly good

[4:13:44 PM] Natalya says: If there isn't anything else to say, then this meeting is officially finished!
