EsperNet

EsperNet, often referred to as Esper. is a medium-sized, independently-operated Internet Relay Chat (IRC) network. Founded in 1996 by Andrew "Alcan" Church and Ian "IJ" Justman, it gained a substantial userbase in 1998. In early 2004, users of Ragnarok Online had set up so many channels on EsperNet that network resources had become extremely low, to the point where the EsperNet administration cut them off from creating new channels completely.

IJ still operates a server on EsperNet to this day. The official EsperNet help channel is #dragonweyr; one may speak to EsperNet's IRC operators in that channel.
