Not many facts about Ernst are out there.
At one point it was owned by Pay n Save (which is why strip malls often included both a Pay n Save and an Ernst, as well as the fact that they had nearly identical logos.) Tuxmelvin 11:09, 10 December 2005 (UTC)
For Christmas I got some old candles... don't know where someone found them, but they actually have the Ernst logo on them. How weird is that? I'm going to add it to this page when I get the time. Tuxmelvin 09:30, 28 December 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Ernst in Idaho Falls
Ernst had quite a bit of the DIY business in my town (Idaho Falls, Idaho) and did quite well here. The chain went bankrupt after building a huge store on the west side of town, after moving out of a smaller location on the north side of town. We didn't have a "big box" home improvement store in the area at the time (Home Depot has been in the area six years, tops and Lowe's just passed its one year anniversary). I think the Idaho Falls store would have done well even after the arrival of the competitors because it's on an easier to access street than the big boxes. The store here went out of business pretty quickly after they declared bankruptcy and the building has sat vacant ever since.
