Ernest Bai Koroma

Ernest Bai Koroma (born 2 October 1953 in Makeni, Bombali District, Northern Sierra Leone) is a politician in Sierra Leone. He is a member of the All People's Congress and minority leader in parliament.

[edit] Pre-political career
Koroma was educated the Sierra Leone Church primary School, Boys Government Secondary School in Magburaka and Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone, where he graduated from in 1976. After graduating, Koroma taught briefly at the St. Francis Secondary School in Makeni before eventually joining the Sierra Leone National Insurance Company in 1978. From 1978 until the beginning of the political career in 2002, Koroma distinguished himself among in the business community of Sierra Leone.

Koroma was voted in as leader of the APC in March 2002 and represented the formerly dominant party in the 2002 Presidential and parliamentary elections, which soldified the APC as the main opposition party. Koroma continued as leader of the APC until being stripped of the position by the Supreme Court of Sierra Leone in June 2005, only to be reinstated in that position in September of that year.
