Erle P. Halliburton

Erle P. Halliburton and his wife established the New Method Oil Well Cementing Company in Oklahoma in 1919. This company would become known as Halliburton after 1960.

Simultaneously, the Brown brothers, George and Herman, partnered with their brother-in-law, Dan Root, to found Brown & Root in Texas.

Born in Tennessee in 1892, Erle Halliburton died in Los Angeles Oct. 13, 1957.
