Eric Traut

Eric Traut is an American software engineer and software emulation pioneer. Traut graduated from Stanford University in 1992. Traut wrote the Mac 68k emulator for Apple Computer in 1993, a project in which he invented (and patented) dynamic recompilation.

Traut went on to join Connectix, where he developed successful commercial emulators such as Virtual PC and Virtual Game Station. Traut became Connectix's Chief Technical Officer in 2001,[1] after which Microsoft purchased Connectix in 2003.

Traut currently works for Microsoft in Redmond, Washington.
