Eric Sorensen is the Chief Meteorologist for WREX-TV, the NBC affiliate in Rockford, Illinois. He currently co-anchors the television station's evening newscasts on Channel 13 along with the CW News at Nine O'clock. Previously, Eric was the Morning Meteorologist for the station. He also forecasts the local weather for several area radio stations.

He began his work at WREX-TV in 2003. He has also been a Meteorologist for KLTV in Tyler-Longview, Texas and KTRE-TV in Lufkin-Nacogdoches, Texas.

Mr. Sorensen is known for his work with children. He showcases a different child each morning with "13 Weather Kids." Viewers are invited to send pictures of their children to the TV station. Each morning a child's face is coupled with a cartoon body depicting the type of weather that is forecast for the day. During the school year on Wednesdays Eric Sorensen and fellow WREX-TV Meteorologist Candice King do a segment called "Mad Science." Different science experiments are performed live in the TV studio with a scientific explanation why certain chemical processes occur.
