Eric Shelton (born June 23, 1983 in Lexington, Kentucky) is an American football running back who currently plays for the Carolina Panthers of the NFL.

Shelton was drafted in the 2nd round (54th overall) of the 2005 NFL Draft with a pick from the Seattle Seahawks. Shelton's running style has been compared to Stephen Davis, who will undoubtedly be his mentor in Carolina. Shelton attended the University of Louisville, where he led the Cardinals in rushing (938 yards) and touchdowns (20). He left Louisville as the all-time career leader in rushing touchdowns, all the more surprising since he only played two seasons there. He actually started his collegiate career at Florida State University, where he played one season as a true freshman for the Seminoles before transferring to Louisville in 2002. As a result of NCAA transfer rules, however, he was forced to sit out the 2002 season. In high school, he played both running back and linebacker.

Shelton was placed on injured reserve at the beginning of the 2005 NFL season and therefore has yet to make his pro debut.
