Eragon I

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Eragon 1 was the First dragon rider in the Inheritance trilogy. He was the Elf who united the Dragons and the Elves and ended the Pre-Rider War.

[edit] History

Ever since the beginning of Alagaësia, many creatures, such as dwarves and dragons, inhabited the land. For a long time, they lived peacefully with no change. But one day, the first elves sailed from Alalea in their silver ships and since, more and more of them have migrated to Alagaësia. At first, they saw the dragons as mere animals and lice, but from that came the mistake. A naive elven youth hunted down and killed a dragon and by doing so, sparked the war between the two races. The bloody war lasted for five years and would've continued if an elf named Eragön hadn't found the dragon egg. Unlike other elves, he secretly kept and took care of it, for he saw the value of having a powerful ally. He named it Bid'Daum and once it grew, they travelled across the land together and proposed treaties, and reunited the races.

[edit] Bid'Daum

The dragon hatched and raised by Eragön the First. Bid'Daum was a white dragon (possibly to set up Eragön 1 as the antithesis to Galbatorix, whose dragon is black). Bid'Daum befriended Eragon, and together the two worked together to establish peace between Elves and Dragons. Despite his high standing, Bid'Daum was not the leader of the dragons. Bid'Daum is not to be confused with the white dragon that Queen Islanzadí declared it's name shouldn't be spoken in any language. "The fact that Bid’Daum was also white is merely coincidental", remarked Christopher Paolini on the official site.
