Equitable jurisdiction was established as a corrective system of justice designed to supplement the common law by responding more flexibility to the need for fair dealing and just outcomes. Under the equitable jurisdiction, someone would not be allowed to enforce his legal rights if it would be unconscionable for him to do so.
