The Alpha Chapter of Epsilon Sigma Phi Sorority, Inc. was founded at SUNY Stony Brook on November 21, 1995. From a group of thirty interested women, only eleven proved to have the dedication, determination and discipline to fulfill the goal of founding a sorority that would stand above the rest.
[edit] "What we want most to be, we are."
High morals, devotion, and discipline are what made the founders of this elite sorority. Our sorority is about acceptance, appreciation and self-confidence; attributes that we stress in both ourselves and others. When Epsilon Sigma Phi was coming into existence, the theme of diversity was a self-manifested one. Our Founding Sisters created one strong sisterhood from eleven different cultures and backgrounds. They strived on the importance of preaching anti-discrimination and anti-prejudice.One of the greatest standards that Epsilon Sigma Phi holds is acceptance of all the different kinds of people.
[edit] Community Service and Diversity
Our sorority stands foremost for diversity, in its members and in the community around us. Our philanthropy is Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, and our fundraisers help to collect money for children with cancer. The second philanthropy is the adoption of an international child who is in desperate need of money for food, clothing and education. Our child is a twelve year old boy named, Sergio Augusto Gutierrez and he lives in Ecuador. Epsilon Sigma Phi is a sisterhood. We are commited to the ideals of scholarship, philanthrophy and community service. By stressing these goals in ourselves, and others, we are truly preparing ourselves to be the leaders of tomorrow.
