[edit] Wikipedia:Sock puppetry
You are in violation of wikipedia policy. Creating an account to circumvent a user block is against Wikipedia Policy. See Forbidden uses of sock puppets for more information.--WilliamThweatt 05:14, 20 August 2006 (UTC)
- Read the link above. You were banned for 24 hours under User:69.157.126.241 for violation of the 3 revert rule. The Wikipedia policy at the link above specifically forbids the creation of an account to circumvent this block.--WilliamThweatt 05:20, 20 August 2006 (UTC)
- This is simply not the case. I will not go over the 3RR rule and Calgacus knows I have created a new account. 69.157.126.241 was banned for 24 hours. There is nothing that says i can't make a new account with a different IP address. As long as I don't go over 3RR again. Eoganan 05:22, 20 August 2006 (UTC)

- "Simply not the case"????? Read the policy, it's there, I didn't write it. The policy specifically and uncategorically says that a blocked user can not edit under another account until his block has ended. It's good that you decided to create an account, it's good that you have "assured" us that you won't violate 3RR again (although it shouldn't have taken admin intervention, the warning should have sufficed), but the user block has a purpose and that is to stop you from editing for 24 hours. Read the policy.
I am using from another IP address and only reverted in retaliatoin against other users who also broke the 3RR rule, yet did not get a similar ban. I will continue on editing, but I won't break the 3RR. Bye, Eoganan 05:31, 20 August 2006 (UTC)
"only reverted in retaliatoin" -- this is certainly not in the spirit of this project. Please lern to work with other editors first before starting any edit wars; it's considered bad form and certainly much less fun than writing articles. Best of luck and thanks for your intetest in Wikipedia. 71.198.59.81 08:11, 20 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Blocked
I believe this permanent block is unjustified because I was not aware at the time that I could not keep editing Wikipedia under a different alias when a temporary block was put in place on my IP or anon account. I do apologize for breaking the 3rr rule and continuing to edit under my new user profile. If it would be posssible for you to allow my edits to stand and at least reduce my current block to a temporary one, it would be greatly appreciated. I was also only acting at the time in response to user Calgacus (talk • contribs • logs • block user • block log) own reverts who Im positive broke the rule at least once or neared it. In any case, I am sorry for such edit warring and really enjoy contributing to Wikipedia. I hope this can convicne you to reduce my block. Thank you. Eoganan 16:11, 20 August 2006 (UTC)
- You used this account specifically to circumvent an existing block. When someone is blocked, they're supposed to not edit for the duration of that block, either from that account or an IP address. Edits during a block cannot stand (sorry). I have reset the IP blocks to 1 week. If you are willing to refrain from editing for one week (either from this or another account), I will reduce the block to 1 week on this account. I'd rather have you with an account than just an IP. Does that work for you? alphaChimp laudare 17:04, 20 August 2006 (UTC)
Yes, it does work for me and I will refrain from editing for one week. Thank you for your consideratoin in the matter as I have specific interest in ethnic group articles on Wikipedia and would like to contribute more and in a more proper manner. Have a good week. Eoganan 18:08, 20 August 2006 (UTC)
- Okay, I'm reducing the block length to 1 week from the posting of this message. You are welcome to read wikipedia during that week, but if you edit, the block will be extended. I am adding a revised block message below. I appreciate your candor. No hard feelings, alphaChimp laudare 18:13, 20 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Hi
I couldn't help but notice your recent disagreement with a certain user that appears on the Scottish people discussion page. I have a great interest in the area of ethnic groups, especially Europeans (since obviously that is my heritage) and most importantly, the importance of descent in ethnicity and culture and associated traits (I'm a fourth year student of anthropology and history, but have also taken many courses in molecular genetics). There are certain aspects which I will argue with to include on the Scottish people article when I have more time, but I really got interested by your diasgreement on the existence of some unified "American ethnic group". I have lived in Canada and the US for all my life and I've never heard such a term mentioned, ever. It is something I'd really like to discuss with you and the user you were involved with, and I have posted this on his page as well. Ciao, Epf 05:16, 20 September 2006 (UTC)
