Enyo Engagement

The Enyo Engagement was a fictional war between the Terran Confederation and the Empire of Kilrah in the Wing Commander computer game and novel universe. It occurred in the year 2639, after the Kilrathi took a total of 500,000 human prisoners on the planets Enyo and McAuliffe.
Phase One involved bringing in an attack force against the Kilrathi fleet at Enyo. The Terran attack force consists principally of Raptor-class heavy fighters reconfigured to carry extra Porcupine Space Mines and practically no missiles. The force is small enough that Kilrathi forces at Enyo are certain of victory. The Phase One forces drop their Space Mines in one region of space near Enyo and engage the enemy. Kilrathi ships maneuver to get out of the mined region and turn their attention to destroying the invaders.
Phase Two began with a single radio signal detonating all the specially-modified Porcupine mines. Moments later, the remainder of the Terran fleet appears at that jump point, in the middle of the engagement. The Terran fleet strikes at the gunships threatening the human colonies, resulting in the destruction of the enemy ships and orbital guns laying siege on the planet, with minimal loss of life among the colonists.
This lead to a full Kilrathi retreat, and their loss of a strategic position. However, losses were nearly identical between the two fleets.
