Enturbulation, a term created by Hubbard, is a shibboleth primarily used in the context of Scientology to describe a truth or fact or slander that is disturbing to Scientology practitioners.

The root of the term enturbulation stems from a notion contrived by Scientology's founder L. Ron Hubbard, who wrote the text Scientology: A History of Man wherein he describes his theory that humans evolved from clams (also known as boohoos and weepers).

These clams, Hubbard wrote, had a serious problem in that the action of waves washing clams onto the beach and otherwise tossing them about created psychological problems in the clams which are therefore ingrained within humanity's collective psyche today.

Thus to "enturbulate" someone is to cause agitation and discomfort. So it is that enturbulation consists of someone speaking either unpleasant facts or slander about Scientology.
