Enrique González Martínez

Enrique González Martínez was a Mexican poet.
Born: Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico 13 April 1871 Died: Mexico City, Mexico 1952
- Mexican Revolution Literature took note of his poem "Tuercele el cuello al cisne" (Wring the Neck of the Swan), written 1910, published 1911. In this poem he signifies his break with Modernist rhetoric by indicating his desire to replace the swan, a primordial Modernist symbol, with the owl.
- In 1920, entered diplomatic service and occupied the position of minister (maybe ambassador) in Chile, Argentina and Spain until 1931 (returning to Mexico).
- In 1944, received the Avila Camacho Prize.
