[edit] Lexus LS article also needs improvement IMO
The history section seems to be poorly written. The awards section also needs work. Major improvement of current 2007- LS is needed. Safety, performance, styling, competition.
--- Thank you for the suggestion, I agree that the LS page is in need of improvement. I would like to make a contribution on that front soon.

Lexus LS History Awards 2007 LS Safety Performance Styling Competition (related) Enigma3542002 07:40, 12 September 2006 (UTC)
"Lexus equals Toyota + 10,000.00 USD added to the MSRP"
That may be the case for the ES, but for the rest of the Lexus lineup it depends. The pricing of the LS 460 and LS 460 L reaches $93,000 at most recent count, so it would be a Toyota with $60,000 more at times. Enigma3542002 22:38, 17 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] S-Series
I know the LS is related to the Crown. But does it also use the Toyota S-Series platform. If so, then it would also be related to the Toyota Aristo/Lexus GS, right? I am asking you as you seem very knowledgable about Lexus. Regards, Signaturebrendel 19:56, 14 September 2006 (UTC)
I am not sure...I was under the impression that the Aristo/GS is related to the Crown, and shares the same platform, but all the articles I have read suggest that the new LS is an 'all-new platform' with of course the stretch for the LWB. I will need to do more checking on this. Thank you for your input! Enigma3542002 20:00, 14 September 2006 (UTC)
- Alright, thanks for your quick response. I think we might need to add dates after the mention of the LS being related to the Crown and the S-Series platform. The 1990s LS, up to '03 and now '06 was certainly related to the Corwn and the S-Series platform. But the new LS (2007-) may differ, espcially since Lexus is now sold in Japan as Lexus. Regards, Signaturebrendel 20:24, 14 September 2006 (UTC)
Sounds good to me, although deciphering the chassis codes to determine exact lineages is rather convoluted. I think right now it looks fine. Wonder if the article can be resubmitted for GA in the near future... Enigma3542002 23:40, 14 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Lexus emblem
The logo I posted is in SVG format. This can be scaled indefinitely. I believe that SVG is preferred over PNG on Wikipedia. Wikipedia renders this vector graffic at whatever size is given, and it will always appear sharp and in your PNG form.
the image is this: Image:Lexus svg.svg
The above may appear small, but look at what I can do to the same image:
Just as sharp. SVG is preferred over PNG. It renders the same, but SVG is more versatile. --Snafuu 19:54, 23 October 2006 (UTC)
I have uploaded a more updated Lexus emblem which is cropped more correctly. Would you care to make it transparent and otherwise look better? Thank you.
Alternatively, if you could make the original SVG image look like the more updated version, that would be great. Enigma3542002 06:27, 24 October 2006 (UTC)

Thank you for uploading new fair use images!!! Given that these vehicles made few or no appearances in the US, I am glad someone obtained images. Enigma3542002 08:58, 26 October 2006 (UTC)
- That's the great thing about flickr, there are people who attend auto shows all over the world and contribute free-use images. You might want to check out Commons:Category:Lexus concept vehicles for more alternatives, if those don't suit your fancy. ˉˉanetode╦╩ 09:12, 26 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Promotional images
Please do not upload any more promotional images unless they pass our criteria of being "unrepeatable", i.e. they are of a future product, or an historic event. Thanks, ed g2s • talk 18:05, 29 October 2006 (UTC)
I will do my best. In fact, after anetode informed me about flickr's CC-licensed images, I went to great lengths to replace/add numerous images, including several promophotos, with flickr images. Only then did people begin deleting them due to the post-May 2005 "commercial use" clause, leading me in multiple cases to have no choice but to revert to promophotos. I noticed that a similar thing happened to one of your photos on October 20th, via the same user, Sherool. Sincerely, Enigma3542002 19:39, 29 October 2006 (UTC)
Disputed fair-use images:
1. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:LS_first_gen_testing.jpg - there is no other way to get a photo of the LS during testing, as it was top-secret.
2. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Lexus_lineup_early_90's.jpg - it is very, very difficult to get a photo of the entire early 90's Lexus lineup together; these cars are very rare, including some at the time, and all of them as of now (together esp.).
3. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Lexus_Tahara.jpg - Lexus prohibits factory photos, so this is the only way to get a production photo. Enigma3542002 06:00, 30 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Nice catch on Lexus
It was getting hit by so many IPs that I missed the most recent vandalism. Thanks for fixing it! OhNoitsJamie Talk 21:42, 29 November 2006 (UTC)
- Thank you for blocking the vandalism! They were surely persistent, hopefully they will go away this time! Enigma3542002 21:43, 29 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] my IS
I will be submitting my.is to the Open Directory Project. As soon as it is added, I will be removing the link on the Lexus IS article as per WP:EL. Roguegeek (talk) 21:13, 8 December 2006 (UTC)
- I wasn't aware that all non-official sites had to be purged from the main article page, and sequestered in an open directory page. The My.IS site is very significant, more so than many of the other sites on the list. Including this one major source of information--which was very useful for source material used in editing this article--is not an invitation for a long list of external links. This is the one true IS community on the web.Enigma3542002 21:32, 8 December 2006 (UTC)
- At the very least it should be linked to a Lexus IS directory page, and not Lexus in general IMO. Enigma3542002 21:41, 8 December 2006 (UTC)

- I beg to differ, it states that this is a copyrighted publicity photograph which qualifies as fair-use because "a free image could not be created to replace it." I also added "No free-use images available as of yet; vehicle still under wraps." There are no publicly available photos of this vehicle, all that exists to wikipedians is this officially released teaser shot, at least until sometime in 2007. Enigma3542002 21:31, 8 December 2006 (UTC)
- I have added additional fair-use rationale information. Thank you for bringing this to my attention. Have a nice day. Enigma3542002 21:39, 8 December 2006 (UTC)
