Englebert

Englebert was a belgian company of tyre manufacturer founded by Oscar Englebert.

These tyres initially started race competitions in 1930s with Touring and Sports Car road race. In 1950s Englebert were the benchmark racing tyre. The performance was exceptional and many of the top Formula One teams of the day equipped their cars with Englebert tyres, including Ferrari, Lancia and Maserati.

In Formula One Englebert started at 1950 Monaco Grand Prix, with Simca-Gordini french drivers Robert Manzon and Maurice Trintignant. After the deaths of Alfonso de Portago in 1957 Mille Miglia, and Stuart Lewis-Evans in 1958 Moroccan Grand Prix, Englebert decided to withdraw from motorsports competition.
