[edit] Summary

The curse that keeps Lower Uncton permanently in the dark began in 1653 when blacksmith Seamus McBundy, an ancestor of Al's, insulted a fat, ugly witch named Poxilda (Helena Carroll) who was getting her horse reshoed. The witch was upset at the insults and cursed the village, making it permanently dark and all future male Bundys with a horrible foot odor.

In 1992, the Bundys receive a letter in the mail claiming they won a trip to England after "everyone in the world had their names placed into a hat" to draw the winner. The trip is offered by the village of Lower Uncton who hopes to rid themselves of the curse. To end the curse all the male Bundys, Al and Bud, must be killed inside the village limits. Yet, the people of Upper Uncton want to insure they still receive profit from visitors passing through their village to Lower Uncton, a tourist attraction. Consequently, Upper Uncton wants the Bundys dead outside the boundary of Lower Uncton so the curse becomes permanent.

[edit] Part 1

Aired on Sunday May 3, 1992, the first episode recounts the origins of the curse and the "prize" trip to England. Before the Bundys leave, Marcy D'Arcy is told about the Bundys trip and becomes jealous so Jefferson D'Arcy agrees to take a trip to England as well. The Bundys fly into London where they are greeted by Winston (Bill Oddie), a village elder of Uncton posing as a driver. Jefferson decides to save money by having Winston load up the D'Arcys luggage instead of paying for a taxi citing the all expense-paid trip that allow the Bundys to get a free ride into the city. Marcy scolds Jefferson after the taxi leaves with their money and credit cards and D'Arcys are left penniless at the airport.

Meanwhile, the Bundys arrive into the city and demand to be taken to the most expensive hotel, which was recommended by Winston's assistant, Igor (Steven Hartley). The Bundys go on a shopping spree with Lower Uncton footing the bill throughout London visiting tourist attractions like the Tower of London torture chamber and Al makes a speech at Hyde Park.

The episode closes with Trevor (Alun Armstrong) from Upper Uncton walking by the river explaining the Bundys must be killed outside Lower Uncton.

[edit] Part 2

The Sunday May 10, 1992 episode showed the Bundys finally agreeing to visit Lower Uncton. On hearing the news Kelly Bundy decides to "escape" and explore London by herself: she puts a pumpkin in the limousine and leaves without Al or Peggy noticing her absence. The family arrives at Lower Uncton witnessing a platform that the males are to be hanged on, but not understanding its purpose. The family (including the pumpkin that replaced Kelly, carried by Bud Bundy) stay the night in the Lower Uncton castle. The family does not sleep well as Peggy makes sexual advances annoying Al and Bud's room is haunted by ghosts of Bundys murdered in the castle. They warn him of the impending doom.

Meanwhile, the D'Arcy couple are given free tickets to London's "oldest show" in the midst of their poverty. This show turns out to be an S and M/bondage club exciting Marcy. In another part of town Kelly befriends Prince Charles in a private room. One of the men from Upper Uncton disturbs Kelly to warn her of the family's fate. Princess Diana witnesses Charles's actions and slaps him as Kelly leaves to find the family.

[edit] Part 3

On May 17, 1992 Kelly ultimately discovers the family and rescues them as the males are about to be hanged in Lower Uncton. Directing a horse drawn cart, Kelly accidentally releases the horses causing the family to flee on foot. The foursome make their way in the exact middle line between Lower and Upper Uncton. Winston notes "we can kill them both and see where they fall."

The episode ends with a Middle Ages jousting event against Igor, considered the best jouster around, to increase sales in Upper and Lower Uncton. Al dresses in his trademark high school football uniform and defeats Igor. By the end of the episode the Bundys and Darcys return, but not before Marcy's suitcase with bondage toys sets off airport security.
