EMTEC is a French company that markets magnetic media products and other computer related consumables with headquarters in Gennevilliers, France. As a company, EMTEC has undergone several transformations.

  • 1991 - The German chemical company BASF acquired Agfa creating BASF Magnetics.
  • 1996 - BASF Magnetics was spun-off of BASF into an independent company.
  • 1997 - They changed their name to EMTEC Magnetics.
  • 1999 - EMTEC is a Compliance-Verified licensed manufacturer of LTO technology media products.
  • 2003, January - EMTEC Magnetics GmbH (a subdivision) files for bankruptcy protection in Germany.
  • 2003, October, Imation completed it's acquisition of certain data storage assests of EMTEC Magnetics GmbH [1]
  • 2004 - EMTEC was acquired by MPO group, a French company in the recording media business.
  • 2006, May - EMTEC was acquired by The Dexxon Group, a French computer products distribution company.
