[edit] Background

My hometown is Chicago, Illinois. Prior to UCLA, I earned a BA in Biochemistry at Knox College in 2001 and worked as a research technologist at University of Chicago in the intervening years until 2003, when I relocated to Los Angeles for graduate studies.

[edit] Interests

As would be suggested by my current occupation, I am particularly interested in immunology, particularly in the area of host-pathogen interactions. Outside of studies I am involved in music, primarily synthesizer programming. I have also spent time working in radio. During my time at Knox College I worked at WVKC as a DJ and as program director/general manager in 2000-2001. I also worked on the airstaff at WAIK during the same period. Other areas of interest include world and US history and politics, urban planning, sociology, military history, and drinking port. I recently started contributing to wikipedia, initially sans username, but now under empietras.

[edit] Articles

As with any wikipedia user, I engage in minor edits here and there. Below are articles that I wrote most of the text for. As I am still newer, most taxoboxes, lists, and other finer features are left to those more versed in formatting until I catch up.
