Empire is the second album by British rock band Kasabian, released on 28 August 2006 (see 2006 in British music). The album was preceded by the release of lead track "Empire" on 24 July 2006.
The album was recorded over two weeks after touring with Oasis. According to Tom Meighan, Empire is a word used by the band to describe something that is good.
All of the tracks were written by Sergio Pizzorno, with "Empire", "By My Side" and "Stuntman" co-written with former member Chris Karloff.
Songs that have been released off the album are "Empire" and "Shoot the Runer". "Me Plus One" is due to be released in early 2007.
Empire went straight into the UK Albums Chart at #1 on 3 September 2006.
