Emperor Entertainment Group

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Emperor Entertainment Group (EEG; 英皇娛樂集團有限公司) SEHK: 8078 is one of the largest entertainment groups in Hong Kong. It was founded by a well known wealthy business man and "gang lord" in Hong Kong, Albert Yeung. Yeung served a minor prison sentence in the early 1980s and was alleged to have been a triad leader. Reportedly, he retired from triad life to start Emperor Group, a highly successful business in Hong Kong today with close ties to the Chinese mainland government. Despite his alleged retirement, Yeung remains on the blacklist of the U.S. and Canadian governments, both of which continues to label Yeung a triad leader and barred from entry into those countries. The ICAC, Hong Kong's elite crime-fighting organization, maintains an active file on Yeung.
EEG was established in 1986. Indeed, it is one of the entertainment businesses under the Emperor Group. The other two are Music Icon Entertainment Limited and Emperor Motion Picture Group.

Since its inception, EEG has shown its ambition to become the largest entertainment group in Hong Kong. Many of the pop-stars among youngster nowadays in Hong Kong are artists of EEG, the most obvious examples could be Twins and Joey Yung.
