Emily Harvey is a student of directing and a classical theoretician from Seattle, Washington. Several of her artistic dabblings include an alternative translation of Aeschylus's The Suppliant Women. An emerging member of the classical community, she is a fixture of the theatrical and political scene in Bellingham, Washington.

As a director, she is most noted for her productions of Big Bad Wolf, by Dru Johnston; The Shadowbox, by Michael Cristofer; Antigone by Jean Anouilh; and Uncommon Women and Others by Wendy Wasserstein; and for her work with Western Washington University's Student Theatre Productions (STP). She has collaborated with celebrated Bellingham poet, essayist and playwright T.J. Acena on the shows De-press and Start Now produced for Idiom Theatre's 48 Hour Theatre Festival. When asked about the workshop process, Harvey commented on the introspection that T.J. Acena brings to the table. "I was impressed with his wordsmithery and his understanding of the human condition."[citation needed] She is also the subject of at least two plays: Award-winning playwright, composer and critic Nate Harpel's neo-futurist piece, "Emily Harvey Brings Us Africa," and TJ Acena's response play, "Emily Harvey Blogs."

As a member of Northwest Washington State's John Kerry campaign, Harvey caused a great stir on the campus of Western Washington University with her November 2004 editorial in the University's newspaper The Western Front.
