Embo

Embo is a village in the Highland Council Area in Scotland. It is in the traditional/postal county of Sutherland, about 2 miles NNE of Dornoch.
It gained fame in 1985 by "seceding" from the United Kingdom for a day and issuing its own postage stamps. On 16th July 1988 the anniversary was celebrated by a group "annexing" the neighbouring towns of Dornoch and Golspie. Bronze Age remains were excavated to the south of the village in 1956, other burials having previously been discovered in the area.
