[edit] Solo Album
Buendía also had a solo project, even before leaving the Eraserheads. He recorded ten tracks in the comfort of his home studio, "Suite 16 Studios." The album was called "Wanted: Bedspacer." (Wanted Bedspacer, Monday Mundane, Kakaiba, Santo, Over 18, Tapos Na, Acid Tongue, Oras, Shallow Breathing, Hotchik).
[edit] Leaving Eraserheads
"It had run its course. We’d been together for 10 years. We wanted to do different things, also we all can't agree with each other that time, it was a natural death so to speak," according to Buendía. After leaving the band, Buendía was later replaced by Kris Gorra-Dancel (of the Fatal Posporos). The band (with a new vocalist) later on disbanded due to legal issues.
[edit] The Mongols
The Mongols is an eclectic rock band composed of guitarist J. Astro (also known as Jerome Velasco) (of Teeth), bassist Yan Yuzon, drummer Bogs "Boga Man" Jugo (of the indie pop band Daydream Cycle), and on vocals, Ely Buendía, under the name Jesus "Dizzy" Ventura. After putting out an underground E.P. "A Fraction of a Second," the Mongols decided to have their self-produced album distributed by the major label VIVA Records. The result is a thirteen-track album called "Buddha's Pest"(Keeper, Bulakbol, Bakit Nga Ba?, Pony, Teka Muna, Candy Flip, Heroine, Wig Out, It's Over, Irish Spring, Odd Even, Your Bushido, Instrumental Bonus Track). In May 2005, the group eventually updated their line-up and changed their name to "Pupil" because they also sounded different and much modern.
[edit] Pupil
Shortly after the Mongols disbanded, a new band was formed. Buendía formed Pupil (band). Members are Ely Buendia (guitars/vocals), Yan Yuzon (guitars/vocals), Dok Sergio (bass/vocals) and Bogs Jugo (drums) with manager Diane Ventura. Buendía chanced upon the band name while reading a medical book. In November 2005 Pupil released an album entitled "Beautiful Machines" under Sony BMG and label Musiko, with "Nasaan Ka?" as its first single (Different Worlds, Blow Your House Down, Nasaan Ka?, She Talks To Trees, False Alarm, Gamu-Gamo, Mary, Hypersober, Dulo ng Dila, Beautiful Machines, All This Time, Dianetic, Kalawakan, Lost Guide).
[edit] Newspaper Columnist
Ely Buendía had a broadsheet column, entitled "CURSOR," published weekly (every Saturday) in the Entertainment Section of The Manila Bulletin. Due to Buendia's busy musical career, CURSOR had ended and was last published during the first saturday of September 2006.
