Elvin Ng (黄俊雄, Pinyin: Huáng Jùn Xíong), born December 23, 1980) is a one of the latest actor to join the Mediacorp stable in Singapore. Despite having been in showbiz for only 2 years, he received two nominations in the Star Awards 2006. Although he eventually lost the Most Popular Newcomer award to Weilian, he still managed won an award for being one of the Top 10 Most Popular Male Artistes.
Elvin Ng first captured the hearts of many for his role as an endearing and good-natured hooligan in his maiden drama serial A Life of Hope. Adept at both photo shoots and catwalk shows, the established model with chiselled Pan-Asian looks and boyish charm won a surprise nomination for Male Model of the Year in the Singapore Fashion Awards in just his second year of modeling.
Having had to juggle between acting and studying, Elvin never did regret joining showbiz even though he didn't perform spectacularly for his Honours Degree in English Literature at the National University of Singapore. The effectively bilingual actor enjoys writing, drawing and playing swimming and soccer and even played inter-constituency soccer at a semi-professional level for several years.
He is touted as the next big thing, and a recent cover story of 8 Days Magazine (N°840) predicted that he may take over the crown as the King of Caldecott Hill. His versatile image makes him equally convincing as the evil antagonist or the charming boy-next-door. His willingness to learn, determined attitude and humility puts him in good stead for bigger things to come.
