[edit] History

Although dabbling in Junior "C" during the '50s and '60s and winning the 1962 Clarence Schmalz Cup, the history of the Sugar Kings comes to form in 1974, when they joined the "Waterloo-Wellington Junior 'B' Hockey League". The league changed their name to the Midwestern "B" in 1977, but the Sugar Kings have remained their for over 30 years.

In the Late 1990s and Early 2000s, the Sugar Kings were one of the most dominate teams in all of Canadian Junior Hockey. In 1997, 1998, 2001, and 2002, the Kings reigned as Mid-Western "B" Champions and won the famous Sutherland Cup as Ontario Hockey Association Champions in 1997 and 2001. The Kings are one of the Mid-Western "B"'s original teams, dating back to 1977. For much of their first 20 years, the Kings were inconsistent from year to year -- some years finishing with over 30 wins, some years under 10. A smooth consistency has come over the past 10 seasons, featuring the Sugar Kings, always, on the brink of glory.
