Eliza Acton

Elizabeth 'Eliza' Acton (April 17, 1799 - February 13, 1859[1]) was an English cook who produced one of the country's first cookbooks aimed at the domestic reader, Modern Cookery for Private Families. In this book she introduced the now-universal practice of listing the ingredients at the beginning of each recipe. It long survived her, remaining in print until 1914.

Acton was also a romantic poet.
