Elinora of Furstán-Festil
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In the fictional universe of the Deryni novels of Katherine Kurtz, Elinora Furstána-Festila-Mór was the ninth Festillic Pretender, claiming the title of Queen of Gwynedd from 1038 to 1050. She was the first Festillic Pretender of the junior branch of the House of Furstán-Festil, and her claim to the throne of Gwynedd coincided with the legitimate reign of King Malcolm Haldane (1025-1074).
AriElinora Imrietta Furstána-Festila-Mor was born on September 24, 985, the only surviving child and heir of Prince Blaine Imre of Furstán-Festil-Tigre and his wife, Lady Corvina Zevenden. She was the great-granddaughter of the Festillic Pretender Prince Imre II, descended from the union of his daughter, Princess Ariella, with Count Duchad Mór of Tigre. Elinora inherited the Festillic claim to the throne of Gwynedd and the Duchy of Tolán at the age of 52, following the death of her distant cousin, Princess Imriella, in 1038. However, Elinora made no effort to press her claim, and was never formally acknowledged as the rightful Queen of Gwynedd. She was best known for her collection of love songs and laments, which were published after her death. Princess Elinora Furstána-Festila-Mór died on September 30, 1050, at the age of 65. She was succeeded as the Festillic Pretender by her daughter, Princess Chriselle.
