Elim Bible Institute ( EBI ) was founded by Ivan Q. and Minnie Spencer in 1924 at Hornell, New York. In 1951 they purchased the current 75-acre campus where EBI now stands. The current campus in Lima, New York was originally the home of Genesee Wesleyan Seminary (GWS).
While not currently accredited as a college, Elim credits may be transferred to various colleges, such at Houghton, Roberts Wesleyan, and Eastern Mennonite University. The environment at Elim is both academically challenging and spiritually motivating. There is a strong emphasis on missions and service. The average Elim student is highly motivated and has a strong sense of a higher calling to reach the world with the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Jeff Clark, who attended Elim as a student, was appointed president in 2006. Four former Elim presidents participated in Clark's installation. Clark previously worked closely with former president Paul Johansson, and has years of pastoral experience.
Elim is about 20 miles south of Rochester, NY.
