Elias Breeskin revived the Pittsburgh Orchestra in 1926 after being disbanded. Elias served as concertmaster, violin soloist, associate conductor, and from 1929-30, was a principal conductor. The Orchestra was composed of players about town who were very sincere in their purpose of founding a symphony orchestra. They gave their time for rehearsals and their services for last night's concert to prove possibilities with material at hand. In a few months' time these good men accomplished wonders under Elias, who was also a Loeb Memorial Prize winner.
