Various kinds of maps of China are available. Maps are often either political, physical or historical. The political maps of the People's Republic of China are to show territorial borders; the purpose of physical maps China is to show features of geography such as mountains, soil type or land use. The included historical maps of China are political maps that give the situation in an historical era, mainly in the period before the formation of the People's Republic of China. Old maps are facsimiles of original maps of China. Click on the image for better resolution and - when available - a description of the map. Maps of neigbouring entities often include parts of China.
