Electro rock is a sub-genre of punk. Often it has been called "electro post-punk". It is a hybrid of new wave and punk rock, and uses elements from electronica such as synthesizers, drum machines, and samples. It is closely related to Dance-punk, infact most bands recording within these two genres are titled both.
