This man took classes in "German, English, Latin, history" and... "hygiene"? Can anyone verify that this was actually a university-level class 100 years ago, alongside chemistry and philosophy? Peruvianllama 07:08, 6 October 2005 (UTC)

It says so on page 6 (page 109) of the article in the American Mathematical Monthly. The second sentence of the paragraph continuing from the previous page is:
He also studied number theory, German, English, history, hygiene, Latin and physics
