The El Presidente, a cuban variation of a Daiquiri, is a mix of rum, curacao, vermouth, and grenadine.

The El Presidente earned its acclaim during between 1920s through the 1940s during the American Prohibition in Havana, Cuba. The cocktail was named in honor of President Gerardo Machado and quickly became the preferred drink of the Cuban upper class.
