The El Cortez Hotel and Casino is located in downtown Las Vegas a few blocks from the Fremont Street Experience.
[edit] History
In 1963, Jackie Gaughan bought the historic El Cortez on Fremont Street, a casino and hotel that was once owned by none other than Benjamin "Bugsy" Siegal. Jackie also allegedly lives there. The El Cortez is also well known in the casino industry as the most prominent "break-in house" for new table game dealers to get experience before moving onto bigger and better properties for dealing.
