Eicon Networks Corporation is a designer, developer and manufacturer of communication products. It was founded in 1984 and it is privately held. Its headquarters are located in Montreal, Canada. Eicon has a worldwide presence, and sells its products through a large network of distributors and resellers, in addition to OEM partners that integrate Eicon's hardware and software into their own products.

In October 2006, Eicon purchased the Media & Signalling Division of Intel. This division (known as Dialogic before the Intel purchase in 1999) is famous for its Dialogic boards, telephony boards for PC servers. The combined Eicon/Dialogic company changed its name to Dialogic at the time of the purchase.

[edit] Products

Eicon's products include the Diva Family (Diva Server and Diva Client) and Eiconcard product lines.

[edit] Diva Server

Diva Server is probably now Eicon's most influential product line. Diva Server is a range of telecomms products addressing the voice, speech, conferencing and fax markets. Some technologies the Diva Server supports include T1/E1; SS7; ISDN and conventional phone line (PSTN). In recent years, Eicon has also developed Host Media Processing technology, i.e. "Software Adapters" that can provide VoIP capability for applications.

Diva Server can be found in all kinds of applications, including VoiceXML speech servers; SMS gateways; fax and unified messaging and call recording and monitoring.

[edit] Diva Client

The Diva product line consists of connectivity products for remote access for the home, for remote workers and road warriors. Mainly today this represents ISDN products, or combined ISDN and dialup modems. Eicon was an early pioneer of ADSL and Wifi products, but today this is very much now a market dominated by far-eastern manufactured commodity products.

[edit] Eiconcard

The Eiconcard is used for connecting legacy X.25 systems for tasks like credit card authorization, SMS, and satellite communications. The history of the Eiconcard goes right back to the start of the company, but despite all the technological changes of the last 25 years, the Eiconcard still remains popular.
