Edyta Górniak (born November 14, 1972 in Ziębice, Poland) is a Polish singer. She is partially of Roma descent.

At the age of 14, she formed a band and was playing at private parties and evening dances. After studying and taking singing lessons, in 1989, aged 16, she gave her first public appearance, on a Polish television talent show and festival of Polish music industry Krajowy Festiwal Piosenki Polskiej Opole. During next 4 years she was leading star in Metro ("Subway") - the most popular musical in Polish history and in 2 music performances Do grajacej szafy grosik wrzuc ("Put A Dime In The Jukebox") - with classic Polish pop songs from pre-rock'n'roll era and Brel - with Polish versions of songs from French bard Jacques Brel.

In 1993 Edyta Górniak took part in the Baltic Song Contest and finished in third place. In 1994 Edyta was the first Polish artist to participate in the Eurovision Song Contest 1994, in which she claimed a highly creditable second place, which still stands as Poland's best showing in the contest. Her song was To nie ja ("That's Not Me"), which was also released in English as "Once In A Lifetime".

To nie ja proved to be her breakthrough in Poland. Her first studio album Dotyk ("The Touch") released year later has moved half-million units only in Poland. In 1996 she signed a contract in London with EMI Music, including the release of 5 albums. Edyta released her first international album Edyta Górniak a year later, in association with the producer Chris Neil. However, the album failed to make a major international impact.

In 1999 she began a tour through Poland. Her album Live ´99 was produced during this tour. In 2002 she was dropped from EMI International and signed to Virgin Germany. Also that year she was asked to performed the Polish National Anthem at the 2002 FIFA World Cup to a mixed reception. In 2003 she released the single Impossible and the album entitled Invisible produced by Absolute, which failed to impact on the European album charts. A year later she was dropped from Virgin.

In the same year she gave birth to son Allan. Then she started her own independent label EG Production and began collaboration with unknown Polish group of talented musicians Mathplanete to record her new Polish album in brand new style, with chill-out club music. First, in May 2005, she released the single Lunatique, which was performed in French. In November she married father of her child, guitarist from her band Dariusz Krupa.

In February 2006 she appeared on the cover of Playboy magazine for the 3rd time and released another club single Sexuality. Then unexpectedly Górniak left Mathplanete and idea of recording club music and began works on her new international pop album, seeking new major record label. The choice was Sony BMG and the first result was single Loving You from December 2006. Edyta remains today arguably one of Poland most gifted and beautiful singers.
