Edward Geraldine (エドワード・ジェラルダイン Edowādo Jerarudain?), alias Edge (エッジ Ejji?), is a fictional, playable character from the Square Co., Ltd. RPG Final Fantasy IV. Edge is the royal prince of Eblan and the only heir to the throne. A brash and confident ninja, he lives life to its fullest. Despite his cockiness, Edge is a kind-hearted young man who is not easily manipulated or led astray from his morals.
Edge enters the plot of Final Fantasy IV late in the game, when Cecil Harvey, Rosa Farrell, Kain Highwind, and Rydia are traveling through Cave Eblan to reach the Tower of Babil. They first see Edge being defeated in a battle with Rubicante, the Elemental Lord of Fire. Because Cecil and the rest are after Rubicante as well, Edge - who becomes completely taken with Rydia - joins the party.
In the Tower of Babil, Edge finds his parents turned into demons by Dr. Lugae and is forced to fight them. After the King and Queen's defeat, Edge takes his anger out by killing Rubicante. When he learns that Rubicante was under the leadership of Golbez, he permanently joins the party.
Edge remains with Cecil for the rest of his journey (Edge is the only character who never leaves the party once he joins), helping him steal enemy airships, collect Crystals, and in the end helping him defeat Zemus - the wizard who was using his power to manipulate Golbez.
After saving the world, Edge becomes King of Eblan, and is forbidden to court women by his counsellor. Edge still longs for Rydia, who lives in the Land of Summons after the defeat of Zemus.

[edit] Skills
[edit] Throw
Using this command (in some versions called Dart), Edge can Throw swords, spears, and projectiles at his opponents.
[edit] Steal
Using the Steal command (sometimes called Sneak), Edge can take various items from his enemies. This command has no guaranteed success, and can even be countered for some light damage to Edge if the enemy discovers his attempt. After completing the Lunar Trial in the Game Boy Advance version, the command changes to Plunder, which allows Edge to damage the enemy while he is stealing.
[edit] Ninjutsu
Edge can use Ninjutsu (sometimes Ninja Magic or simply Ninja), a type of magic no other character can use. Usually, Ninja spells are variations of black and white magic. Ninjutsu abilities range from elemental damage spells that target all enemies to utility based spells, including immobilization and escape techniques.
