Edward English (b ? - ) is a Canadian Christian Brother who was convicted in 1994 of indecent assault, gross indecency, and assault causing bodily harm against children as part of the Mount Cashel Orphanage scandal in Newfoundland, Canada.[1][2]

He received a prison term of ten years for his crimes.[3]

In the 1990s, criminal proceedings began against members of the Christian Brotherhood in Newfoundland. The proceedings were based on allegations of sexual and physical abuse against boys at the Mount Cashel Orphanage. It was alleged that the Brothers were allowed to escape prosecution at the time (1980s) if they left Newfoundland[4].

Several Brothers left Newfoundland and went to teach at Saint Thomas Moore collegiate in British Columbia. These included English, as well as Jospeh Burke, Edward French, and Kevin Short[5].

The subsequent lawsuits[6] by the Mount Cashel victims against the Christian Brothers organization threatened to close STMC in 2004[7]. The story received considerable press coverage and was covered as widely as in Pakistan[8].
