Edward D. Head

Most Rev. Edward D. Head (August 5, 1919 - March 29, 2005) was the 11th Bishop of Buffalo, New York.
Bishop Head was born in White Plains, New York and was raised in The Bronx. Bishop Head was ordained into the priesthood of the Archdiocese of New York in 1945.
In 1970, he was ordained an auxiliary bishop. Bishop Head served, among other assignments, as executive director of Catholic Charities in the Archdiocese of New York. In 1973, he was installed as the 11th Bishop of Buffalo.
Pope John Paul II accepted his petition to retire in 1995. Bishop Head died on March 29, 2005, aged 85.
