Edward Clay

Sir Edward Clay KCMG is the former British High Commissioner to Kenya.

In 2005 he received an Honorary Doctorate of Laws from the University of Sunderland.

A cousin of Edward Hartley Clay, the inventor of the infinitely variable gear which currently resides in the institute of mechanical engineers, who also designed an early prototype of the portakabin. Died unrecognised, in his forties.

Sir Edward is now a member of the Trustee body of Leonard Cheshire, a disability organisation.
